At the core of these spacecraft are Aviotec\u2019s Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets\u2014custom-engineered thermal control systems designed to protect spacecraft structures and sensitive payloads from extreme temperature fluctuations, radiation, and Atomic Oxygen (ATOX) exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each mission requires a tailored configuration. Layups and material selections vary depending on orbital regime\u2014LEO, MEO, GEO, or interplanetary trajectory\u2014and the environmental challenges associated with each. Once launched, these spacecraft must operate flawlessly for years, often decades. There is no room for compromise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To meet these standards, Aviotec relies on advanced materials sourced from Dunmore for the production of its MLI blankets. Aviotec has purchased essentially the full range of Dunmore\u2019s space products. Procurement is coordinated through Aero Team S.r.l. in Turin, with shipments delivered directly from Dunmore\u2019s production facilities to Aviotec\u2019s plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several years ago, a material widely used for its Atomic Oxygen resistance properties was discontinued. Such a change can significantly impact spacecraft design and qualification cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dunmore worked closely with Aviotec to identify and implement an alternative material. The replacement has been successfully used ever since\u2014without disruption to mission timelines or performance. \u201cDunmore supported us in selecting an alternative solution that we continue to use successfully today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
